Schools Out Case Study
Client Introduction
Cyril Jackson Primary School is a split site school situated in London’s Docklands area.
The Challenge
Schools want to promote healthy living with children and want to find a place with better facilities to do extra-curricular activities in sports.
The Solution
Gateway Motion has provided a cost effective solution to Cyril Jackson School by setting up Breakfast clubs, Lunchtime clubs and Afterschool club sessions. Supervised by a minimum of 2 members of staff, games include foxes and tails, dodge ball, football, Robin Hood, head catch and stuck in the mud. During these sessions staff are free to perform other tasks knowing the children are in good hands, having fun and keeping fit.
The Benefits
The school children want to be active and need a place where they can hold matches/tournaments. Schools are also keen to promote healthy lifestyle from a young age. Gateway Motion facilities at LYC offer more suitable space and activities than what is currently on offer in school. The children attend twice or three times a day which helps them to get healthy on a physical and emotional level. They learn how to express themselves, work together in teams and collaborate with the coaches on how they want their sessions to be run. LYC acts as the children’s link to what goes on outside of school. The centre provides them with a safe and controlled environment, at the same time giving children the freedom to choose what areas they want to develop.
Gateway Motion has typically engaged 50 children aged 11-12 years old each week doing these activities.
